The Ortofon 2M Bronze Verso is the inverted-mount version of Ortofon's 2M Bronze cartridge, supplied for tonearms and headshells that mount the cartridge from below. Within the 2M Verso line, it sits in the upper half of the family, above the 2M Red Verso and 2M Blue Verso and below the flagship 2M Black Verso, alongside the 2M 78 Verso for shellac records and the 2M Mono Verso True Mono variant.
Inverted Body
Verso models share the same generator, magnetics and cantilever assemblies as the standard upward-facing 2M cartridges. The body is reoriented so that the threaded mounting bolts protrude downward from the cartridge top, allowing fitment to inverted headshells and integrated tonearms that present the mounting holes from underneath. Apart from orientation, the electrical and mechanical performance is identical to the equivalent standard 2M Bronze.
Fine Line Stylus
The 2M Bronze Verso uses a nude Fine Line diamond on an aluminium tube cantilever. The Fine Line profile has a slim contact radius (8 micrometres) that traces high-frequency groove modulations more accurately than the elliptical tip used on the 2M Red Verso and 2M Blue Verso, while its larger footprint along the groove wall (40 micrometres) spreads tracking force over a wider area, reducing record wear and lowering distortion. The stylus is nude-mounted, bonded directly to the cantilever without an intermediate shank.
Upgraded Engine
The 2M Bronze and 2M Black share an upgraded generator assembly that distinguishes them from the lower-tier 2M models. Split pole pins and silver-plated copper wire in the coils deliver a 5 mV output at standard test velocity (1 kHz, 5 cm/s) with channel separation of 26 dB at 1 kHz and a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (+2 / -0 dB).
Tracking and Compatibility
Recommended tracking force is 1.5 g, within a permissible range of 1.4 to 1.7 g. Dynamic lateral compliance is rated at 22 micrometres per millinewton, suiting medium-mass tonearms typical of modern turntables. Recommended load is 47 kilohms with 150 to 300 picofarads of capacitance, the same loading used across the rest of the 2M series. Cartridge weight is 7.2 g and standard half-inch mounting is used.
Interchangeable Styli
All styli in the 2M range are mechanically interchangeable across the series. A 2M Bronze Verso owner can upgrade to the 2M Black stylus, or step down to the 2M Red or Blue stylus, by swapping only the replacement stylus assembly without removing the cartridge body.
