Meters is the consumer audio division of Ashdown Engineering, a British company with over two decades of experience building professional guitar and bass amplifiers for artists including Sir Paul McCartney, U2, and Foo Fighters. Sound & Wireless Performance
A pair of 40mm dome drivers delivers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz with a sensitivity of 94 dB/mW and an impedance of 32 Ohms at 1 kHz. Bluetooth 5.0 with Low Energy support provides the wireless backbone, and Qualcomm aptX HD codec compatibility enables 24-bit high-definition audio streaming from compatible source devices. The effective Bluetooth range is 10 to 15 metres.
Active Noise Cancellation
The OV-1-B Connect features automatic active noise cancellation that reduces background noise by 82%. The ANC can be switched off when ambient awareness is preferred, and the headphones also support a fully wired mode via the included 1.2-metre 3.5mm stereo cable with inline microphone, allowing use when the battery is depleted or Bluetooth is impractical.
VU Meters & Customisation
The defining visual feature is a functioning VU meter on each ear cup that reacts in real time to the volume of the incoming audio signal. The companion Meters Connect app for iOS and Android extends customisation with a 5-band parametric equaliser, RGB LED colour control for the VU meter backlighting, and dial brightness adjustment. Over-the-air firmware updates keep the headphones current.
Controls & Comfort
Tap-touch buttons on the ear cups handle call answering, volume adjustment, and track skipping without reaching for the source device. The closed-back design with memory foam ear cushions provides passive noise isolation alongside the electronic ANC. The headband and cushions are finished in white leather, and the ear cup housings are machined aluminium. The OV-1-B Connect folds flat for transport and ships with a carrying case.
