The Loewe klang mr3 is the mid-sized member of Loewe's klang mr multiroom speaker family, sitting between the compact mr1 and the larger mr5. Designed in Germany, it combines Loewe's heritage in premium consumer electronics with a modern wireless audio platform built around DTS Play-Fi, delivering room-filling 360-degree sound from a distinctive conical form wrapped in acoustic fabric.

Design and Build

The klang mr3 adopts a tapered conical silhouette with a triangular cross-section, wrapped in premium acoustic fabric over a solid internal enclosure. The glass top panel houses integrated touch controls and an illuminated status LED, providing tactile access to volume, playback, and up to five user-configurable favourite presets. The design won an iF Design Award, recognising the balance between acoustic engineering and domestic aesthetics.

Driver Configuration and Performance

Inside the sealed-box enclosure, the klang mr3 deploys three full-range drivers, a dedicated subwoofer, and two passive radiators, all driven by a 75W Class D amplifier that delivers a total system output of 150W. The 360-degree radiation pattern ensures even coverage regardless of placement in the room, while the frequency response extends from 40 Hz to 20,000 Hz — deep enough to deliver convincing bass without requiring a separate subwoofer for most listening scenarios.

Streaming and Connectivity

The klang mr3 supports Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, and DTS Play-Fi, giving access to services including Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, and internet radio. Bluetooth 4.2 provides direct wireless streaming from smartphones and tablets. For wired connections, the speaker offers an Ethernet port for stable network integration and a 3.5mm auxiliary input for analogue sources. A remote control is included.

Multiroom and System Integration

Through the DTS Play-Fi platform, up to 32 klang mr speakers can be controlled wirelessly from a single source, with the ability to configure up to four independent spatial audio zones. Loewe's proprietary WDAL 2.0 (Wireless Digital Audio Link) technology synchronises playback across multiple speakers with minimal latency, enabling surround-sound configurations when paired with other klang mr or klang bar units.
