Loewe

Loewe

Loewe was founded on 23 January 1923 in Berlin by brothers Siegmund and David Ludwig Loewe as Radiofrequenz GmbH. From its earliest years the company pursued technological innovation: in 1926, working with physicist Manfred von Ardenne, Loewe developed an early multi-function electronic device, and between 1930 and 1935 the company registered more television patents worldwide than any other organisation. In 1931, von Ardenne presented the world's first fully electronic television at the 8th Berlin Radio Show on the Loewe stand — an event reported by the New York Times.

Following wartime disruption and Siegmund Loewe's forced emigration to the United States in 1938, the company re-established itself in Kronach, Upper Franconia, Bavaria, where its headquarters and production facilities have been based since 1948. Loewe continued its pioneering work in broadcast technology, introducing Europe's first professional video recorder in 1961 and Europe's first stereo sound television in 1981. In 1985, a management buyout restored independence after a period of Philips Group ownership, and designer Heinz Jünger's Art 1 television established the premium design philosophy the brand upholds to this day.

Today Loewe is owned by Skytec Group Ltd and continues to manufacture premium televisions, audio systems, and multiroom solutions from its Kronach facility in Germany. The brand is positioned as a maker of high-end home entertainment products that combine engineering precision with distinctive design.
