KEF T205 5.1 Home Cinema System White

The KEF T205 is the larger of the two home cinema systems in KEF’s ultra-slim T Series. Where the smaller T105 uses T101 satellites throughout, the T205 upgrades the front left, right, and centre channels to the larger T301, bringing greater power handling and output for rooms that demand more headroom. The rear surround channels remain as T101 satellites, and bass duties are handled by the T2 powered subwoofer with its built-in 250W Class D amplifier.

Ultra-Slim Design

At just 35mm deep, the T Series satellites are designed to complement wall-mounted flat-screen televisions without visual compromise. KEF achieves this with a radical ultra-low-profile bass and midrange driver whose suspension and magnet system is relocated to the side of the voice coil. This allows the performance of a conventional 115mm unit from a driver only 27mm deep. A fully vented 25mm aluminium dome tweeter handles the high frequencies across all satellite models in the range.

T301 Front & Centre Speakers

The T301 is a two-and-a-half-way closed-box design carrying twin 115mm dual-layer mid-frequency drivers alongside the 25mm aluminium high-frequency unit. With a frequency response of 80Hz to 30kHz and sensitivity of 91dB (wall-mounted), the T301 handles amplifier power from 10 to 150W and reaches a maximum output of 110dB SPL. Mounting is versatile: the T301 can stand vertically on the supplied desk stand or be rotated horizontally as the T301c centre channel, with identical driver complement and performance either way. Height on the desk stand increases by 30mm.

T101 Surround Speakers

The T101 is a compact two-way closed-box satellite using a single 115mm dual-layer mid-frequency driver and the same 25mm aluminium tweeter. Its frequency response matches the T301 at 80Hz to 30kHz, with sensitivity of 90dB (wall-mounted) and power handling from 10 to 100W. Maximum output reaches 107dB SPL. At just 330mm tall and 35mm deep, the T101 is barely noticeable on a wall yet delivers a convincing surround field.

T2 Subwoofer

The T2 is a sealed-box powered subwoofer built around a 250mm (10in.) bass driver and a 250W Class D amplifier. Frequency response extends from 30Hz to 250Hz, with a variable low-pass crossover and a fixed 250Hz second-order filter. A three-position bass boost EQ control allows compensation for different room acoustics. Connection is via an RCA phono input. At 380 × 370 × 177mm, the T2 is significantly slimmer than conventional subwoofers, maintaining the T Series’ discreet design ethos.
