The KEF RNC200S is a steel metal rear enclosure, commonly referred to as a back box, designed for use with 200mm square KEF Ci Series architectural in-ceiling and in-wall speakers. It forms part of KEF's comprehensive range of accessories for professional installation projects.
Purpose and Benefits
Metal rear enclosures are available for most models of KEF Ci architectural speakers. Fitted during the pre-wiring stage of a new construction installation, the RNC200S provides a sealed enclosure for the loudspeaker drive unit and significantly reduces the transmission of sound into the void or room behind the speaker. This is particularly valuable in multi-storey buildings, hotel installations, and any environment where acoustic isolation between spaces is a priority.
Compatibility
The RNC200S is compatible with square 200mm KEF Ci Series speakers, including the Ci200QS, Ci200QSb-THX, and Ci200RS-THX. It accepts a 194 x 194mm square cut-out and provides an ideal rear volume of 60 litres, with a minimum usable rear volume of 35 litres. The enclosure features a knock-out entry point for cable routing.
Installation
The RNC200S is designed to be installed before the ceiling or wall surface is finished, making it a first-fix item. It should be fitted during the pre-wiring stage to ensure correct positioning prior to the final speaker installation. KEF's rough-in frame for this speaker size is the RIF200S, which can be used alongside the RNC200S during the pre-wiring phase.
