The KEF RNC160S is a steel rear enclosure designed to accompany KEF 160mm square Ci Series in-ceiling and in-wall speakers. Fitting a dedicated rear enclosure is strongly recommended whenever a speaker is installed into a ceiling or wall, as it isolates the driver from the open cavity space that would otherwise negatively affect bass response and sound quality.
The enclosure is fitted from below once the ceiling is in place and the speaker has been installed. It provides acoustic isolation and structural support, and in many building regulations contexts also serves as a fire-protection measure by sealing the speaker opening in the ceiling void.
The RNC160S is compatible with KEF's range of 160mm square Ci-series in-ceiling and in-wall speakers, including the Ci160QS, Ci160CS, Ci160.2QS and Ci160.2FS.
