The KEF RNC160L is a steel rear enclosure (back box) designed for use with KEF Ci Series architectural speakers that require a 160mm rectangular cutout. Fitted during the pre-wiring stage of a new construction or renovation project, the rear enclosure clips behind the speaker to form a sealed chamber around the driver.
Without a rear enclosure, an in-ceiling or in-wall speaker fires sound both forwards into the room and backwards into the ceiling or wall void, which causes bass loss, acoustic interference, and sound bleed into adjacent rooms. The RNC160L prevents this by creating a defined sealed volume behind the driver, resulting in tighter, more accurate bass reproduction and significantly reduced transmission of sound through the building structure.
Constructed from steel, the RNC160L is robust enough for use in residential and commercial installations. It is compatible with the KEF Ci160QL, Ci160CL, and Ci160SL in-ceiling speakers, and is supplied as a single unit.
For best results, install the rear enclosure before plastering or finishing the ceiling or wall surface. Refer to the KEF installation guide supplied with your Ci Series speakers for fitting details.
