The KEF Muo is a portable Bluetooth speaker that brings the acoustic philosophy of one of Britain's most respected loudspeaker manufacturers to a form factor small enough to slip into a bag. Designed in collaboration with the Welsh industrial designer Ross Lovegrove, the Muo's sculptural aluminium shell takes direct inspiration from KEF's award-winning Muon floorstanding speaker, translating its organic curves into a compact, carry-anywhere format.
At the heart of the Muo is a coaxially arranged driver system consisting of a 20 mm high-frequency unit combined with a 58 x 117 mm mid/low-frequency driver fitted with KEF's P-Flex surround. The arrangement delivers a frequency response that extends down to 43 Hz, unusually deep for a speaker of this size, underpinned by 40 watts of Class D amplification split between the high- and low-frequency drivers. The result is a speaker that maintains composure and detail across a wide listening volume rather than sacrificing quality once pushed.
Connectivity is provided via Bluetooth 5.4 with support for aptX Adaptive, AAC, and SBC codecs. A USB-C port doubles as a charging connection and a digital audio input capable of handling files up to 48 kHz/16-bit. Two Muo speakers can be paired together for true wireless stereo playback, and the unit supports both Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair for quick device connection. Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours at moderate volumes, with a fast-charge function providing three hours of playback from just fifteen minutes on charge.
The IP67 rating means the Muo is protected against both dust ingress and submersion in water up to one metre for thirty minutes, making it a genuinely practical outdoor speaker. The Cocoa Brown finish gives the machined aluminium body a warm, earthy tone that works equally well indoors and out.
