The KEF LS50 Monitor AV 3.0 package brings three of KEF's award-winning LS50 mini monitors together as a matched left, centre, and right front stage, offering an exceptionally coherent home cinema or multi-channel music system built around one of the most celebrated compact loudspeakers ever made. Inspired by the legendary BBC LS3/5a professional monitor and drawing on driver technology from KEF's flagship Blade loudspeaker, the LS50 delivers a soundstage out of all proportion to its compact dimensions.
Uni-Q Driver Technology
At the heart of each LS50 is KEF's Uni-Q driver array — a coaxial design that positions the 1-inch aluminium dome tweeter at the acoustic centre of the 5.25-inch magnesium/aluminium alloy cone woofer. This concentric arrangement produces an exceptionally wide, consistent soundfield from a single point source, reducing off-axis colouration and ensuring the same sound quality is heard throughout the listening area. A Tangerine Waveguide controls high-frequency dispersion for smooth, even distribution into the room.
Cabinet Engineering
The LS50's compact two-way bass reflex enclosure features a curved baffle that reduces edge diffraction, while internal bracing controls cabinet resonances. The bass reflex port uses an elliptical shape with a flexible middle section to minimise port noise across the operating range. The result is a speaker that punches significantly below its weight class in bass extension, with a frequency range reaching down to 47Hz (–6dB) from a cabinet measuring just 302 × 200 × 278mm.
The 3.0 Package
In the Monitor AV 3.0 configuration, three matched LS50 units serve as the left, centre, and right channels. Because all three speakers share identical drivers and cabinet geometry, timbre matching across the front stage is inherently precise — a fundamental requirement for natural panning and dialogue reproduction in both film and multichannel music formats. The LS50's nominal 8-ohm impedance and 85dB sensitivity are suited to AV receivers and integrated amplifiers rated from 25W to 100W.
