The KEF KC62 is an ultra-compact force-cancelling subwoofer that sits within KEF's subwoofer range alongside the larger KF92 and Kube models. Despite measuring just 246 x 256 x 248mm and weighing 14kg, the KC62 delivers bass performance that belies its modest dimensions, reaching down to 11Hz thanks to KEF's patented Uni-Core technology.
Uni-Core Force Cancelling Technology
At the heart of the KC62 is KEF's Uni-Core technology, which reimagines traditional force-cancelling subwoofer design. Two 6.5-inch drivers share a single motor structure rather than requiring separate magnet assemblies, allowing the cabinet volume to be reduced by over a third compared to a conventional dual-driver arrangement. This shared-motor approach simultaneously increases driver excursion, unlocking greater output and deeper extension from the compact enclosure.
P-Flex Surround
Each driver features KEF's P-Flex surround, a pleated suspension design inspired by origami. The folded geometry resists the internal acoustic pressure more effectively than a conventional roll surround, enabling greater driver excursion with reduced distortion. The result is deeper bass extension and more detailed low-frequency reproduction across the entire operating range.
1,000W Class D Amplification
The KC62 is powered by 1,000W RMS of built-in Class D amplification, split across two dedicated 500W channels — one per driver. This substantial power reserve ensures the subwoofer can deliver sudden dynamic transients with authority, whether tracking a film soundtrack or reproducing the leading edge of a bass guitar note.
Room Placement Equalisation
A five-position EQ switch on the rear panel allows the KC62 to be optimised for its placement within the room. Presets cover free-space, wall, corner, cabinet, and apartment positions, each adjusting the frequency response to compensate for the boundary reinforcement or room constraints associated with that location. The variable low-pass crossover filter is adjustable from 40Hz to 140Hz, with an additional LFE bypass mode for use with AV receivers that handle bass management internally.
Connectivity
The KC62 offers both line-level RCA phono inputs and speaker-level inputs via KEF SmartConnect, ensuring compatibility with virtually any amplifier or AV system. A line-level RCA output with a variable high-pass filter (40Hz–120Hz, with bypass) allows the KC62 to be integrated with satellite speakers for a seamless crossover. The KC62 is also compatible with the optional KW1 wireless adapter for cable-free placement.
