The KEF Coda W occupies a distinct position in the KEF loudspeaker range as the brand's first active wireless bookshelf speaker designed for everyday hi-fi listening. Sitting below the premium LS50 Wireless II in price and complexity, it brings together KEF's core acoustic expertise with flexible connectivity in a compact, lifestyle-oriented package suitable for a wide range of rooms and source types.

12th Generation Uni-Q Driver Array

At the heart of the Coda W is KEF's 12th Generation Uni-Q Driver Array, which positions a 25 mm aluminium dome tweeter at the acoustic centre of a 130 mm magnesium and aluminium alloy cone driver. This coincident-source arrangement creates a more natural, point-source soundstage that remains consistent across a wide range of listening positions. The driver is supported by P-Flex, KEF's controlled-flex cone technology designed to break up resonances that would otherwise introduce colouration at higher volumes.

Each speaker houses a dedicated Class D amplifier topology: 70 W drives the bass and midrange driver while 30 W powers the tweeter, giving a combined per-speaker output of 100 W. Maximum SPL reaches 102 dB measured at one metre, providing ample headroom for both critical listening and background use.

Wireless and Wired Connectivity

The primary speaker handles all source connections and distributes audio to the passive secondary speaker via a wired USB-C interspeaker link, with all sources resampled to 96 kHz/24-bit PCM for the connection. Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless supports wireless streaming from smartphones and computers with high-resolution capable codecs. A USB-C input accepts hi-res audio files directly from a computer or laptop at up to 192 kHz/24-bit. The HDMI ARC input allows a single cable connection to a television, while an optical input handles digital sources up to 96 kHz/24-bit. A built-in phono preamplifier accepts a moving magnet turntable directly, alongside a standard RCA line-level input for sources with their own output stage. A dedicated RCA subwoofer output enables system expansion with a compatible KEF subwoofer.

Musical Integrity Engine

The Coda W incorporates KEF's Musical Integrity Engine, a DSP processing stage applied to incoming audio to optimise the signal for the Uni-Q driver and the speaker's enclosure characteristics. This processing works in conjunction with the amplification to maintain low distortion and consistent tonal balance at different playback levels.

Design and Finish

The Nickel Grey finish presents a refined, contemporary aesthetic with a compact cabinet measuring 285 x 168 x 268 mm per speaker. The pair weighs 11.3 kg in total. KEF offers the Coda W in five colour options to suit different room aesthetics: Nickel Grey, Dark Titanium, Moss Green, Vintage Burgundy, and Midnight Blue.
