12th Generation Uni-Q Driver Array
At the core of the Ci5160RLM-THX is KEF's 12th generation Uni-Q driver array, in which the tweeter is mounted concentrically within the midrange cone. This coaxial arrangement causes the speaker to behave as a single acoustic point source, dispersing sound evenly across a wide 150-degree nominal coverage angle. Every listener in the room benefits from the same tonal balance and clarity, regardless of seating position.
Metamaterial Absorption Technology
The 25mm vented aluminium dome tweeter is enhanced by KEF's Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), developed in conjunction with the Acoustic Metamaterials Group. This intricate maze-like structure is mounted directly behind the tweeter and absorbs 99 percent of the unwanted sound that would otherwise radiate backwards from the driver and re-enter the listening environment as colouration. The result is a crisper, more natural treble with significantly lower distortion.
THX Certified Ultra
The Ci5160RLM-THX carries the THX Certified Ultra designation, earned after rigorous testing of output levels, frequency response, signal-to-noise ratio, and distortion. THX Ultra certification ensures the speaker is capable of reproducing high-impact cinema soundtracks at reference levels with accuracy and low distortion. With a maximum SPL of 110dB, the Ci5160RLM-THX can fill large rooms with effortless, cinema-grade sound.
Precision Build and Finish
The speaker uses four 160mm hybrid aluminium bass drivers working in concert with the Uni-Q midrange and tweeter, crossed over at 640Hz and 2.6kHz. The front baffle is precision-machined aluminium at 5.5mm thickness, engineered to eliminate resonance and vibration. A paintable magnetic metal grille is supplied as standard, allowing the grille to be colour-matched to any interior; an optional black cloth grille is available as an accessory. The Ci5160RLM-THX is finished in Aluminium Silver with tone-matched drivers.
