The Ci3120QLM-THX is KEF's flagship Q Series in-wall LCR speaker, purpose-built for medium to large home cinema installations that demand both exceptional audio performance and seamless visual integration. Carrying THX Select certification, it meets the rigorous standards required to deliver true cinematic sound quality in rooms of up to 2,000 cubic feet.
3-Way Driver Architecture
At the heart of the Ci3120QLM-THX is a sophisticated 3-way driver arrangement. Two specially designed 120mm (4.75 in.) long-throw bass drivers deliver powerful, low-distortion bass extension to 42Hz, while KEF's renowned Uni-Q technology places a 100mm midrange driver and 19mm vented aluminium dome tweeter at its acoustic centre. Crucially, the tweeter incorporates Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which absorbs 99% of unwanted rear-wave sound, resulting in cleaner, more detailed high-frequency reproduction. Nominal coverage of 150 degrees ensures consistent sound across a wide listening area.
THX Select Certification
THX Select certification guarantees that the Ci3120QLM-THX has passed a rigorous battery of tests covering frequency response accuracy, distortion, dynamic range, and power handling. When used as part of a THX-certified system, it will reproduce cinema soundtracks exactly as the director intended, with a maximum SPL of 105dB at 1 metre.
Installation and Aesthetics
The speaker is housed in a rectangular enclosure measuring 536 x 186 x 96mm, requiring a cutout of 513 x 163mm and a minimum mounting depth of 90mm. An ideal rear volume of 40 litres is recommended for optimal bass performance, though it will operate with as little as 20 litres. The powder-coated Ultra-Thin Bezel and paintable magnetic metal grille allow the speaker to disappear into any wall surface. An IP64 rating provides protection against dust and water splashing, making it suitable for a broader range of installation environments. Supplied with a cutout template and full installation manual, the speaker is designed for professional installation.
