As the first architectural speaker from KEF to incorporate Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), it represents a significant step forward in concealed installation audio performance, delivering powerful, room-filling, high-fidelity sound for the most demanding home theatres and living rooms.
12th Generation Uni-Q with MAT
At the heart of the Ci250RRM-THX sits KEF's 12th Generation Uni-Q driver array, which acts as a single point source to disperse sound more evenly throughout the room. Combined with Metamaterial Absorption Technology, the tweeter benefits from a highly complex maze-like structure that absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter, resulting in a noticeably cleaner, more natural treble performance. The Ci250RRM-THX is the first architectural speaker to feature this technology.
Cavity Radiation Control
The Ci250RRM-THX features Cavity Radiation Control (CRC), a patent-pending technology developed by the KEF Engineering team in the UK. CRC uses an open-back midrange design with acoustically absorptive foam that eliminates the frequency response dips of up to 30dB in magnitude found in typical coaxially arranged three-way designs. The result is the highest midrange acoustic realism among three-way coaxial loudspeakers available.
Low Diffraction LF Aperture
A carefully profiled, smoothed housing design with an outer acoustically absorptive foam ring reduces resonance and diffraction at the cabinet boundary. This Low Diffraction LF Aperture delivers exceptional midrange and high-frequency performance whilst preserving the tremendous bass output of the 250mm long-throw woofer, which reaches down to 28Hz.
THX Ultra Certification
The Ci250RRM-THX carries THX Ultra certification, reflecting its ability to meet the demanding tonal accuracy and output standards required by the professional filmmaking community. THX recreates the tonal balance of the filmmaker's final mix in your home, ensuring that action sequences are impactful and dialogue is always intelligible. With a maximum SPL of 111dB, the Ci250RRM-THX delivers cinema-quality output from a completely concealed position in the ceiling.
RRM: Round, Rectangular, Multi-Shape Installation
The RRM designation indicates that the Ci250RRM-THX is designed for flexible installation, accepting both round and rectangular cutout templates to suit different ceiling constructions and project requirements. The paintable Ultra-Thin Bezel and magnetic grille ensure the speaker integrates discreetly with the surrounding decor. IP64 certification provides dust-tight and splash-proof protection, making it suitable for a range of installation environments.
