KEF Ci160QR In-Ceiling Speaker (Single)

The KEF Ci160QR is a premium in-ceiling loudspeaker from KEF’s Ci Series, designed to deliver high-fidelity audio while virtually disappearing into the ceiling. Built around KEF’s signature Uni-Q driver array, it places a 19mm tweeter at the acoustic centre of a 160mm bass/midrange cone, allowing both drivers to behave as a single point source. This eliminates the acoustic lobing that affects conventional coaxial designs, producing a consistent tonal balance regardless of where the listener is positioned in the room.

Uni-Q Driver Technology

The fourth-generation Uni-Q array at the heart of the Ci160QR pairs a 160mm bass/midrange driver with a 19mm tweeter mounted concentrically at its centre. A Tangerine Waveguide sits over the tweeter dome, controlling high-frequency dispersion to achieve a wide 125-degree coverage pattern. This broad, even dispersion makes the Ci160QR particularly well-suited to immersive audio installations where consistent overhead coverage is essential, including Dolby Atmos height channels.

Ultra Thin Bezel Design

KEF’s Ultra Thin Bezel (UTB) construction keeps the visible rim as narrow as possible once the speaker is installed, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the ceiling. The forward-mounted woofer eliminates baffle-edge diffraction, while a computer-optimised trim ring maintains midrange clarity without the bulk of a conventional flush-mount flange.

Installation & Durability

The Ci160QR requires a 196mm circular cut-out and has a mounting depth of just 91mm below the ceiling surface, accommodating ceilings from 6mm to 36mm thick. A moulded ABS baffle with moisture-resistant fixings and an IP64 weather-resistance rating allow installation in demanding environments such as bathrooms, kitchens, or sheltered outdoor areas. The magnetic grille attaches without visible clips for a clean finish, and its powder-coated surface includes a corrosion-resistant plasticised additive to withstand humid conditions. An optional rough-in frame (RIF160R) is available for new-build or renovation projects where the ceiling is not yet in place.
