The KEF Ci160ER is a round in-ceiling loudspeaker from KEF's Ci-E Series, designed for high-quality architectural audio installations in home cinema, multi-room audio and background music applications.
At its heart is KEF's patented Uni-Q driver array, which positions a 16mm aluminium dome tweeter at the acoustic centre of the 165mm (6.5-inch) bass/midrange cone. By treating both drive units as a single point source, Uni-Q produces a wide, even dispersion pattern, allowing listeners anywhere in the room to enjoy consistent tonal balance without needing to sit in a narrow sweet spot.
The Ci160ER features Ultra Thin Bezel (UTB) technology, which reduces the visible rim around the grille to an absolute minimum. The white bezel and magnetic grille can be painted to blend with the ceiling surface for a near-invisible finish. The speaker is built to Weather Resistant Construction standards, making it suitable for installation in kitchens, bathrooms and other areas with elevated humidity.
Installation requires a circular cut-out of 196mm diameter. A spring-loaded dog-leg clamping system grips ceilings between 6mm and 36mm thick without the need for access from above. An optional rough-in frame (RIF160R) and rear enclosure (RNC160R) are available as accessories for greater acoustic control and simplified new-build installation.
The Ci160ER accepts 10 to 100W from a standard stereo or multi-zone amplifier, with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and a sensitivity of 89dB, making it an efficient partner for most architectural audio systems.
