The KEF Ci160CS is a square flush-mount in-ceiling speaker from KEF's C Series architectural range, designed for permanent installation in ceilings or walls where discreet integration is a priority. The C Series sits within KEF's broader Ci architectural line and is distinguished by its square format and Ultra Thin Bezel construction, making it particularly well suited to rooms where the speaker must blend into the surrounding surface rather than draw attention.
Design
The Ci160CS employs a 160mm woofer paired with a 19mm tweeter. The tweeter is positioned on an asymmetrical tweeter island, a design approach that reduces high-frequency diffraction and improves off-axis response — meaning the speaker delivers consistent sound to listeners positioned away from the central axis, rather than only those seated directly beneath it.
A tangerine waveguide sits in front of the tweeter, providing exceptionally wide dispersion characteristics while also serving as physical protection for the driver. The combined effect of the asymmetrical island and the waveguide is a broad, even coverage pattern suited to open-plan rooms, kitchens, and hallways where there is no fixed listening position.
The Ultra Thin Bezel keeps the visible rim as slim as possible, reducing visual disruption after installation.
Installation
The Ci160CS requires a 194×194mm square cut-out and a mounting depth of 84.5mm behind the ceiling surface. Overall external dimensions are 223×223mm, with a depth of 90.5mm. Minimum recommended amplifier power is 10W, with a maximum of 100W.
The Ci160CS is sold as a single unit; two speakers are required for stereo operation.
