KEF Ci130CS In-Ceiling Speaker (Single)

The KEF Ci130CS is a square-format in-ceiling speaker from KEF's Ci Series — an architectural range engineered for discreet, high-performance installations in residential and commercial settings. The Ci Series sits below KEF's flagship Ci-R and Q Series in-ceiling models, offering the same core Uni-Q driver technology at a more accessible price point while maintaining the low-profile aesthetic that KEF's architectural speakers are known for.

Uni-Q Driver Array with Tangerine Waveguide

At the heart of the Ci130CS is KEF's patented Uni-Q driver array, which places the 16mm aluminium dome tweeter concentrically within the 130mm mid/bass driver. This coaxial arrangement means both drivers radiate sound from the same acoustic point, producing a more coherent and evenly dispersed soundstage across the listening area. A Tangerine Waveguide mounted ahead of the tweeter controls high-frequency dispersion, extending consistent coverage to 140 degrees — a significant advantage for ceiling-mounted applications where listeners are rarely positioned directly on-axis.

Shallow Mounting Design

The Ci130CS requires a mounting depth of just 77.1mm from the ceiling surface, making it suitable for installations in shallow ceiling voids, between joists, or in retrofit scenarios where clearance is limited. The square baffle measures 184 x 184mm with a 158 x 158mm cut-out, and the speaker accommodates ceiling thicknesses between 6mm and 24mm. Four integrated dog-leg clamps secure the speaker from behind the ceiling panel without requiring additional hardware.

Installation and Finishing

The included magnetic grille is paintable, allowing the speaker to blend seamlessly with the surrounding ceiling finish. Once installed, only the thin bezel and grille remain visible. The Ci130CS carries an IP64 rating, providing protection against dust ingress and water splashes — suitable for bathrooms, covered outdoor areas, and other moisture-prone environments.

Optional accessories include the RIF130S rough-in frame for new-build installations (allowing precise positioning before the ceiling is closed) and the RNC130S rear enclosure for improved bass performance and sound isolation between rooms.
