The KEF Ci100.2QR is a compact round in-ceiling speaker from KEF's Soundlight Q Series, designed to deliver high-fidelity audio in a flush-mounted installation that is no more obtrusive than a halogen downlight. Part of the Ci Series architectural range, it is intended for applications where sound quality must not come at the expense of aesthetics.
Uni-Q Driver Array
At the heart of the Ci100.2QR is KEF's patented Uni-Q driver array, which positions a 19mm aluminium dome tweeter at the acoustic centre of the 75mm polypropylene woofer. This coaxial arrangement causes the two drive units to behave as a single point source, eliminating the phase anomalies and frequency response variations that arise when drivers are mounted at separate physical positions. The result is exceptionally wide and consistent sound dispersion across the listening area, making the Ci100.2QR particularly well suited to ceiling-mounted installations where listeners are spread across a wide angle below the speaker.
Installation
The Ci100.2QR is housed in a rigid round baffle with a mounting depth of less than 104mm, accommodating ceiling and wall cavities with limited depth. Sprung fixing clips allow installation into surfaces ranging from 6mm to 30mm in thickness without additional hardware. The detachable back-can provides a sealed enclosure of 0.7 litres for controlled low-frequency reproduction, removing the need for a separate sealed back-box in many installations. The bezel and grille can both be painted to match the surrounding ceiling for a discreet finish.
Weather Resistance
An IP64 rating means the Ci100.2QR is protected against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. UV-stabilised materials and corrosion-resistant finishes allow the speaker to be used in bathrooms, swimming pool enclosures, covered outdoor areas, and other humid environments without special precautions.
Suitable Applications
The Ci100.2QR is well suited to multi-room audio systems, background music in commercial premises, home theatre installations requiring discreet satellite speakers, and any environment where a small, paintable ceiling speaker is preferred. Its IP64 rating broadens the range of installation locations beyond standard domestic living spaces.
