DALI Oberon 5 Floorstanding Speakers Dark Walnut (Pair)

The DALI Oberon 5 sits at the heart of the Oberon series as a compact floorstanding speaker, positioned between the bookshelf Oberon 1 and Oberon 3 below and the larger Oberon 7 above. It is designed for listeners who want the scale and bass weight of a floorstander without the physical bulk of a full-size tower, making it well suited to smaller and medium-sized rooms.

Driver Technology

The Oberon 5 uses a three-driver, two-way configuration. Two 5¼-inch mid/bass drivers are built around DALI’s wood fibre cone — a blend of fine-grain paper pulp reinforced with wood fibres that creates a stiff yet lightweight diaphragm. Each woofer’s magnet motor incorporates DALI’s patented SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) technology in the iron pole-piece, which reduces mechanical distortion in the motor system with a particular reduction in third-order distortion. The result is a cleaner midrange and improved detail retrieval at the frequencies where the ear is most sensitive.

The tweeter is an oversized 29mm soft dome developed specifically for the Oberon series. The larger-than-standard membrane area allows the tweeter to generate higher sound pressure levels with less excursion, reducing distortion at the top end while maintaining wide dispersion characteristics that support an open and layered soundstage regardless of listening position.

Cabinet Construction

The cabinet is constructed from high-density, CNC-machined MDF board dressed in a high-grade vinyl finish. Solid internal bracings run across the inside of the enclosure to minimise panel resonance. A rear-firing bass reflex port, tuned to 43 Hz, extends low-frequency output while the slim 162mm-wide baffle keeps the speaker visually discreet. An elegantly shaped aluminium base gives the Oberon 5 a lighter, elevated appearance and provides stability on the floor.

System Integration

The Oberon 5 is voiced to integrate seamlessly with other models in the Oberon series, making it straightforward to build a matched multi-channel home cinema system using the Oberon Vokal centre speaker, Oberon 1 or Oberon On-Wall surrounds, and a DALI subwoofer. A single pair of binding posts on the rear panel accepts bare wire up to 10 AWG or single banana plugs. The crossover point between woofers and tweeter is set at 2,400 Hz.
