The AudioQuest Slinky sits within AudioQuest’s HDMI cable range as a slim-profile option designed for tight installations and spaces where a full-size HDMI cable would be unwieldy. Despite its super-slim form factor, Slinky employs the same solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductor technology found throughout AudioQuest’s cable hierarchy, delivering performance that belies its compact dimensions.
Solid Long-Grain Copper Conductors
AudioQuest’s solid LGC conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion — the single biggest source of cable-induced signal degradation. By drawing copper with fewer grain boundaries, fewer oxides, and fewer impurities than standard OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper, LGC allows a smoother and clearer signal path. The solid-core construction means there are no individual strands to interact with each other, removing a layer of distortion that stranded cables inherently produce.
Geometry Stabilising Solid-Polyethylene Insulation
Slinky uses solid polyethylene as its dielectric insulator. Solid polyethylene has a lower dielectric constant than foamed alternatives used in some budget cables, which reduces smearing of the signal and helps preserve dynamic contrast in both audio and video.
Directional Design
All AudioQuest HDMI cables, including Slinky, feature direction-controlled signal conductors. Arrows printed on the connectors indicate the correct orientation for optimal performance, ensuring RF noise is directed away from the most sensitive receiving circuits.
High Speed Performance
Slinky is rated High Speed with Ethernet and is tested to meet or exceed HDMI’s 10.2 Gbps maximum data rate. This supports transmission of all current audio and video formats including multichannel high-resolution audio, 1080p Full HD, 4K Ultra HD video, and 3D content. The cable is compatible with HDMI 1.3, HDMI 1.4, and HDMI 2.0 specifications.
