The AudioQuest Silver Anti-Static Record Brush sits in the middle of AudioQuest's three-tier record brush range, above the standard Record Brush and below the Gold. It is designed for routine dry cleaning of vinyl records before each play, removing loose surface dust and helping to dissipate static charge that would otherwise attract airborne particles back onto the groove.
Construction
The Silver features 1,086,000 conductive carbon fibres arranged across two rows. The high fibre count and fine diameter allow the bristles to reach into the groove profile rather than simply skimming the surface, lifting microscopic dust particles that coarser brushes leave behind.
An uncoated metal finger grip provides the electrical path from the conductive carbon fibres, through the internal components of the brush, to the user's hand and onward to ground. This grounding route allows static charge to drain away from the record surface as the brush passes over it, rather than simply redistributing it.
A built-in cleaning lip on the handle allows debris to be swept from the bristles between uses, keeping the fibres clear and effective over time.
How to Use
Place the brush gently on the spinning record at 33, 45 or 78 RPM and allow it to track for two to three rotations. Then slide the brush slowly towards the spindle and lift away. No fluids or cloths are required.
AudioQuest Record Brush Range
AudioQuest offers three record brush models, each sharing the same conductive carbon fibre principle but differing in fibre count and contact material:
- Record Brush — entry-level model
- Silver — 1,086,000 conductive carbon fibres with uncoated metal contacts
- Gold — 1,248,000 super-conductive carbon fibres with conductive gold contacts
