The Audiolab 7000A sits at the centre of Audiolab's current integrated amplifier range, positioned above the 6000A and below the flagship 9000A. It combines a discrete Class AB power amplifier with a high-specification built-in DAC, a moving-magnet phono stage, Bluetooth connectivity, and a headphone amplifier in a single half-width chassis, making it one of the most comprehensively equipped amplifiers at its price point.
Amplifier
The power stage delivers 70W per channel into 8 ohms and 110W per channel into 4 ohms, using a discrete Class AB circuit with a current feedback (CFB) topology. The power supply is built around a 250VA toroidal transformer with a total of 60,000µF of reservoir capacitance, providing a maximum output current of 11A. Three operating modes are available: integrated amplifier with both pre and power stages active, preamplifier output to drive an external power amplifier, and direct power amplifier input bypassing the preamp section entirely.
DAC and Digital Inputs
The built-in DAC is based on the ESS ES9038Q2M chip, supporting PCM up to 768kHz and DSD512 over USB-B, and up to 192kHz PCM over the optical and coaxial S/PDIF inputs. The 7000A includes full MQA hardware decoding and is Roon Tested. Digital inputs include two coaxial S/PDIF, two optical TOSLINK, HDMI ARC, and USB-B. Bluetooth 5.0 is fitted as standard, supporting both aptX and aptX LL codecs for low-latency wireless listening.
Analogue Inputs and Phono Stage
Three line-level RCA inputs are provided alongside a dedicated moving-magnet phono stage with 55dB of gain, allowing a turntable to be connected directly without an outboard phono amplifier. A preamplifier output is also fitted for bi-amping or connection to a separate power amplifier. A current-feedback headphone amplifier drives the front-panel 6.35mm headphone socket.
Display and Control
The front panel carries a 2.8-inch full-colour IPS LCD display showing the selected source, volume level, and selectable VU metering. A full-function infrared remote handset is supplied. The 7000A is finished in a machined aluminium fascia in your choice of black or silver.
