The Audiolab 6000CDT is a dedicated CD transport in Audiolab's 6000 series, positioned as the entry point to the CDT range below the 7000CDT and 9000CDT. It uses a slot-loading mechanism derived from Audiolab's higher-end 8300CD player and outputs a digital signal only, there is no built-in DAC, for use with an external DAC or a DAC-equipped integrated amplifier.
Transport Mechanism and Buffering
The 6000CDT incorporates a read-ahead digital buffer, allowing it to continue reading data from a disc even if the surface is scratched or damaged. A temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) is used to minimise jitter in the output signal, maintaining timing accuracy across operating temperature variations.
Digital Outputs
Two digital outputs are provided simultaneously: one coaxial (75 ohm) and one optical TOSLINK, both carrying the same signal. Output voltage on the coaxial output is 600mVpp, and frequency response is within 0.01dB from 20Hz to 20kHz. The unit plays standard audio CDs only, at 44.1kHz sampling.
