The Audiolab 6000A Play sits within the 6000 Series as a streaming-ready evolution of the acclaimed 6000A integrated amplifier. Where the standard 6000A requires an external streamer, the 6000A Play incorporates the DTS Play-Fi wireless streaming platform from the 6000N Play into a single chassis, combining two separately award-winning components into one unit.
Amplification
The amplifier section delivers 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 75 watts per channel into 4 ohms via a Class AB topology. Total harmonic distortion is rated at 0.003%, and the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 110dB on the line inputs (A-weighted). The circuit design is carried over directly from the 6000A, retaining the same output stage and power supply architecture.
DAC & Digital Processing
Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by an ESS Sabre ES9018K2M, a 32-bit reference DAC capable of processing signals up to 32-bit/192kHz. This chip underpins all digital inputs and the streaming section, providing a single high-quality conversion path regardless of source.
Streaming & Wireless
The built-in DTS Play-Fi platform supports high-resolution wireless streaming at up to 24-bit/96kHz with compatible services. Supported platforms include Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music, and internet radio, alongside DLNA compatibility for streaming from a home media server. The Play-Fi app enables multi-room audio across compatible devices. An Ethernet port on the rear panel provides a wired network connection as an alternative to Wi-Fi, and two external antennas improve wireless reception.
Connectivity
The rear panel carries three analogue inputs including a dedicated moving-magnet phono stage for turntable connection. Digital inputs comprise two coaxial and two optical S/PDIF connections. Bluetooth is supported with aptX and aptX Low Latency codecs for wireless playback from mobile devices. A front-panel 6.35mm headphone output is provided for private listening. A pre-amplifier output and 12V trigger are also available for system integration.
