Anthem's ARC Genesis is the most advanced room correction software in the company's history, representing the third generation of Anthem Room Correction technology following ARC-1 (2008) and ARC-2 (2014). The Guru service offered by Quantum AV takes this a step further: after you have run your ARC Genesis measurements, our in-house ARC specialist analyses your measurement file, optimises the correction curves, and advises on speaker positioning and equipment settings to extract the best possible performance from your system.
How the Guru Service Works
The process is straightforward. Using ARC Genesis on your Mac or Windows computer, you take a set of acoustic measurements from five microphone positions around your primary listening area using the calibrated ARC or PBK microphone supplied with your Anthem component. You then send the resulting ARC file and your system information to Quantum AV. The Guru reviews the measurement data, applies expert adjustments to the correction curves, and returns an optimised file along with any recommendations for speaker repositioning or receiver settings that would yield further improvement.
In the unlikely event that the Guru is unable to improve on your existing ARC set-up, Quantum AV will refund 50% of the charge.
What ARC Genesis Corrects
Even in a well-treated listening room, the physical characteristics of the space — its dimensions, construction materials, furnishings, and the geometry of walls, floor, and ceiling — introduce standing waves, resonances, and reflections that colour the output of any loudspeaker system. The effect on frequency response is typically ±6 dB in the midrange and ±10 dB at low frequencies. ARC Genesis measures each speaker's output relative to the listening area, then applies proprietary correction algorithms developed by Anthem's engineering team to flatten peaks and dips in the frequency response whilst preserving the beneficial acoustic attributes of the room — attributes grounded in proven psychoacoustic science.
ARC Genesis Features
ARC Genesis offers both Auto and Professional modes. Auto mode streamlines the measurement and correction process for first-time users, whilst Professional mode provides full control over target curves with room gain, deep bass boost, and tilt adjustments. The software supports remeasuring individual speakers — particularly useful for complex multi-channel and multi-subwoofer home cinema systems — and allows up to four system profiles on supported devices, enabling different optimisations for different listening scenarios (for example, one profile for multi-channel home cinema with a subwoofer and another for two-channel music without).
ARC Genesis is backward compatible with all current and legacy ARC and PBK compatible products from Anthem, Paradigm, and MartinLogan, and supports all previously manufactured calibration microphones from these brands. The software is available as a free download for Mac OS X (10.13 and later) and Windows (7, 8, 8.1, 10), with ARC Mobile also available for iOS and Android.
Compatible Anthem Products
The Guru service is available for any Anthem component that supports ARC Genesis, including all current MRX-series AV receivers (MRX 540, MRX 740, MRX 1140), AVM-series AV processors (AVM 70, AVM 90), and STR-series hi-fi components. If your Anthem product supports ARC or PBK room correction, the Guru service can optimise it.
