The Acoustic Energy AE320 sits at the top of the award-winning AE300 Series, a family of loudspeakers that elevated Acoustic Energy’s reputation for delivering exceptional audio performance at competitive price points. As the flagship floor-standing model in the range, the AE320 builds upon the sonic foundations of the AE300 bookshelf speaker and the AE309 slim-line floorstander, adding a third mid-bass driver for greater dynamic authority, deeper bass extension and higher output capability.
Three-Driver Mid-Bass Array
The AE320 uses three 130mm ceramic aluminium sandwich cone mid-bass drivers, each featuring an ultra-shallow profile and long-throw motor system developed specifically for the 300 Series. The stiff yet lightweight ceramic aluminium sandwich construction provides improved dispersion and reduced distortion across the midrange frequencies, while the high-force motor system ensures extended bass slam and impressive power handling. These three drivers work in concert within a three-way crossover topology, with crossover points at 380Hz and 3.4kHz, allowing each driver to operate within its optimal bandwidth.
WDT Tweeter Technology
A 28mm aluminium dome tweeter, developed alongside the mid-bass drivers, completes the drive unit complement. This tweeter incorporates Acoustic Energy’s Wide Dispersion Technology (WDT) waveguide, which shapes the acoustic output to match the radiation pattern of the mid-bass array. The result is a consistently wide listening sweet-spot and seamless tonal integration across the crossover region. Low fundamental resonance helps reduce distortion at high listening levels, while high power handling ensures the tweeter keeps pace with the substantial bass and midrange capability of the three-driver array.
Inert Cabinet Construction
The AE320’s slim-line cabinet is constructed from 18mm high-density MDF, braced internally using proprietary techniques derived from Acoustic Energy’s Reference Series. This bracing technology minimises cabinet resonance, allowing the drive units to perform without coloration from panel vibration. A slot-shaped rear duct port augments bass output while reducing air turbulence for clean, undistorted bass. Despite its slender proportions, the cabinet stands 1000mm tall and accommodates the three-driver vertical array in a compact 175mm-wide enclosure, making it well suited to rooms where floor space is at a premium.
Piano Gloss White Finish
This pair is finished in piano gloss white lacquer, one of three factory finish options for the original AE300 Series (alongside piano gloss black and real walnut wood veneer). The high-gloss surfaces are complemented by slim magnetic cloth grilles, colour-matched to the finish, which can be fitted or removed according to preference. The grilles attach without visible pins, maintaining clean lines across the cabinet face.
Ex-Display Condition
This pair is offered as ex-display stock in graded used condition. Ex-display units may show light cosmetic marks consistent with showroom use but are fully functional. Full manufacturer specification applies.
