The AE307 is the dedicated centre channel speaker in Acoustic Energy’s redesigned 300 Series, a range built around engineering derived from the flagship Corinium project. Positioned alongside the AE300 bookshelf, AE309 floorstanding, and AE320 subwoofer, the AE307 is voiced to integrate seamlessly within a 300 Series surround system while also serving as a standalone LCR speaker for small to medium rooms.
Design & Construction
The AE307 employs a sealed-box enclosure with a passive radiator rather than a conventional ported design, allowing a slimmer cabinet depth of just 125mm. This makes it suitable for wall-mounting in either vertical or horizontal orientation, or for placement on bookshelves. An optional angled desk stand is available for optimum listening position in home theatre installations.
The cabinet is constructed from 18mm MDF using Acoustic Energy’s RSC™ (Resonance Suppression Composite) constrained-layer damping technique, which bonds a bitumen layer between the MDF panels. This approach, pioneered in the Reference Series, significantly reduces cabinet radiation so the drivers can perform without enclosure interference.
Driver Technology
A pair of 120mm paper and coconut-fibre bass-mid drivers flank a central 29mm soft dome tweeter in a classic MTM (mid-tweeter-mid) arrangement. The bass-mid drivers were developed from the Corinium research programme and use paper cones reinforced with coconut fibre for a balance of stiffness and natural damping.
The 29mm tweeter, also derived from the Corinium project, uses a neodymium ring magnet with a large vent in the copper-shielded pole piece. Waste energy is terminated via sound-absorption material in a contoured rear chamber, contributing to the open, detailed high-frequency performance across the 45Hz–29kHz operating range.
Finish & Aesthetics
The AE307 is available in walnut veneer or newly developed ‘silk-touch’ matte black and matte white finishes, each with colour-matched trims and magnetically attached grilles for a clean, contemporary appearance.
