The Zidoo UHD8000 is the flagship of Zidoo's media player range, an all-in-one 8K Ultra HD player that combines reference video playback with a dedicated high-fidelity audio section in a single all-aluminium chassis. It is built around the new generation Amlogic S928X-K 64-bit penta-core processor (Cortex-A76 plus Cortex-A55) with a Mali-G57 MC2 graphics core, 8GB of DDR4 memory and 64GB of eMMC storage, running Android 11.
Video Playback
The main HDMI output uses HDMI 2.1 and supports point-to-point output up to 8K at 60Hz, with 12-bit colour depth and the BT.2020 wide colour gamut. The full range of HDR formats is covered, including HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision, and the player decodes AV1, VP9, H.265, AVS3 and AVS2 video. A built-in VS10 image quality engine handles tone mapping and picture optimisation, and Poster Wall 4.0 organises a library with cover art and movie trailers. The UHD8000 plays full UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray disc images with BD and UHD menu navigation.
High-Fidelity Audio
A dedicated audio stage pairs an XMOS interface with an ESS9069Q DAC, decoding PCM up to 768kHz at 32-bit and DSD up to DSD512. Alongside HDMI audio it provides balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA line outputs, plus optical and coaxial digital outputs, so the player can feed a hi-fi system directly as well as an AV receiver. Gapless playback is supported for SACD ISO, DSF, DFF, WAV and FLAC files.
Dual HDMI Output
Zidoo separates audio and video across two HDMI ports. The main HDMI port carries the 8K video signal, while a second audio-only HDMI output supports Dolby Atmos pass-through. This allows the video signal to reach an 8K display while audio is routed independently to an AV receiver, including older receivers that do not support 8K.
Storage and Connectivity
Two hidden 3.5-inch SATA 3.0 HDD bays accept internal hard drives for a large local media library. Network and control options include Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ax dual-band Wi-Fi (2T2R) and Bluetooth 5.2, with NFS, SMB, UPnP and WebDAV file sharing. Two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, a USB audio input, an RS-232 port, a 12V trigger and HDMI CEC provide integration with control systems including Control4.
Build
The UHD8000 is housed in a 430mm full-width all-aluminium alloy chassis with a brushed panel, a thickened base and shockproof feet. A large VFD display on the front shows playback status with adjustable brightness.
