Wharfedale Super Linton & Stands Package Walnut

The Wharfedale Super Linton with Stands Package represents the latest evolution of the company's celebrated Heritage series, sitting above the Linton as a more capable and extensively engineered standmount loudspeaker. The original Linton was launched in 2019 and rapidly became one of Wharfedale's most decorated products, winning widespread acclaim for its exceptional musicality and outstanding value. Led by Peter Comeau, Director of Acoustic Design, Wharfedale's engineering team revisited every aspect of the speaker's design, including the cabinet, drive units, and crossover, to produce the Super Linton. This package pairs the speakers with their dedicated matching stands, which also feature the much-loved integrated LP storage shelf.

Cabinet Design

The Super Linton uses an enlarged cabinet compared with the standard Linton, benefiting from Wharfedale's proprietary sandwich cabinet construction. This features two layers of MDF bonded with a layer of acoustic damping glue, reducing resonance and colouration across the operating bandwidth. The design is recognisably Linton in character, retaining the classic proportions and distinctive front baffle arrangement, whilst sitting a modest 50mm taller than the Linton. The footprint and stand compatibility remain unchanged, allowing existing Linton owners to upgrade without altering their room setup. The Walnut veneer finish gives the cabinet a warm, furniture-grade appearance that complements traditional and contemporary interiors alike.

Drive Unit Configuration

The Super Linton employs a three-way driver configuration with an acoustic bass reflex loading and an additional auxiliary bass radiator (ABR). The bass driver is an 8-inch (200mm) unit featuring a black woven Kevlar cone with a new, more powerful motor system, extending low-frequency output down to 32Hz and delivering a more dramatic and impactful low end. The midrange driver is a 5-inch (135mm) black woven Kevlar cone unit, housed in a newly revised chamber that uses multiple layers of long-hair fibre to absorb mid-band back waves, resulting in a more natural and clearly defined vocal and instrument performance. The tweeter is a 1-inch (25mm) soft dome unit using a lightweight fabric weave dome coated with a special damping material and supported by a ceramic magnet motor system. Its revised short horn profile ensures smooth response down into the upper midrange, and the redesigned front plate improves high-frequency dispersion.

The Dedicated Stands

This package includes the Wharfedale Linton Heritage stands, which are purpose-designed for the Super Linton. The stands position the speaker at the optimum listening height and include the signature shelf beneath the speaker platform, providing storage for vinyl record sleeves. The stands are finished to match the speaker cabinets, creating a cohesive and elegant visual presentation. Using the dedicated stands rather than generic alternatives ensures the correct acoustic coupling and speaker height for the crossover and driver geometry.

Performance and Listening Character

The Super Linton is designed to deliver the ease and musicality that characterised the original Linton, combined with meaningfully improved resolution and dynamic capability. The reinforced bass section, redesigned tweeter, and revised midrange chamber work together to produce a more cohesive and detailed sound across the frequency range, without sacrificing the relaxed, engaging quality for which the Heritage series is known. Sensitivity is rated at 90dB (2.83V at 1m), making the Super Linton compatible with a wide range of partnering amplifiers from 25 to 200 watts.
