Wharfedale Super Linton Standmount Speakers Walnut (Pair)

The Wharfedale Super Linton is a large three-way standmount loudspeaker that builds on the heritage Linton platform with a significantly enlarged cabinet, upgraded driver motor systems, and refined crossover network. Within Wharfedale's range, it sits above the standard Linton as a higher-capacity option for listeners who want greater bass extension, dynamic headroom, and room-filling scale from a standmount format.

Cabinet Construction

The Super Linton’s cabinet stands 605mm tall — approximately 4cm taller than the standard Linton — increasing the internal volume available for low-frequency loading. Construction uses a dual-layer MDF structure bonded with latex-based damping glue, a sandwich approach intended to reduce cabinet resonance and colouration. The bass reflex enclosure is tuned via twin rear-firing ports positioned below the terminal plate.

Driver Complement

The bass driver is a 200mm (8-inch) woven Kevlar cone unit fitted with a more powerful motor system than the standard Linton, incorporating stronger magnets to improve control and low-frequency extension. Bass response reaches 32Hz at the −6dB point.

The midrange is handled by a 135mm (5-inch) woven Kevlar cone driver housed in its own sealed cylindrical chamber within the cabinet. This dedicated enclosure isolates the midrange from the pressure variations of the bass section, and the chamber is filled with long-hair fibre to absorb the driver’s back wave energy.

The treble driver is a 25mm soft dome unit with a ceramic magnet motor system, crossed over at 2.5kHz.

Crossover

The crossover network is split across two separate circuit boards to reduce electromagnetic interference between the low-frequency and high-frequency filter sections. Crossover points are set at 550Hz and 2.5kHz. The design integrates specialised inductors and capacitors selected for clarity across the full frequency range.

Performance

With 90dB sensitivity, the Super Linton is efficient enough to work well with amplifiers rated at 25 watts and above, while the 6-ohm nominal impedance (3.9 ohm minimum) means it is compatible with amplifiers rated for 8-ohm loads. Peak SPL is rated at 110dB. The recommended amplifier power range is 25–200W.

The Super Linton is designed for medium to larger listening rooms where its scale and output capability can be fully realised. Its standmount format offers placement flexibility in rooms where floorstanding speakers may not be practical, and it pairs with the existing Linton stand.

Finish

Each cabinet is finished in hand-matched real wood veneer. The Super Linton is available in three finishes: Black Oak, Mahogany, and Walnut. A magnetic grille is included with each pair.
