The Wharfedale OW-1 is a compact two-way on-wall loudspeaker from the latest Diamond series, designed to deliver high-performance stereo or home-cinema sound without intruding on the room. In White, the 141mm-deep cabinet sits flush against the wall and the slim, neutral profile is intended to disappear against a light-painted surface or alongside a wall-mounted TV.
The OW-1 pairs a 1-inch textile dome tweeter with a 6.5-inch advanced polypropylene cone bass driver in a sealed (closed-box) cabinet, crossing over at 2.6kHz. The closed-box loading is well suited to on-wall installation because there is no rear port to interact with the wall behind, which keeps low-frequency response tight and predictable in real rooms. Wharfedale quotes a usable frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz (±3dB) with bass extension to 75Hz at -6dB, 86dB sensitivity (2.83V/1m) and a 4Ω nominal impedance (3.9Ω minimum), so the OW-1 will run happily from a mainstream stereo amplifier or AV receiver rated for 4-ohm loads. Recommended amplifier power is 20 to 100 watts and peak power handling is 100 watts, with a peak SPL of 96dB.
The cabinet measures 360 x 200 x 141mm (H x W x D) with the grille and bracket fitted and weighs 5kg, so the OW-1 sits comfortably on a single drywall fixing using the keyhole brackets pre-mounted on the rear panel. Connection is via a single pair of gold-plated 4mm binding posts. A magnetically-attached fabric grille is supplied for a clean front face.
As the smaller sibling of the Wharfedale OW-2, the OW-1 is suited to use as a stereo pair in smaller rooms, as front left/right speakers in a wall-mounted home cinema system, or as surround speakers in a larger Diamond-based setup. The White finish makes it an easy match with light interiors and wall-mounted screens, while the matching Black version is also available from Wharfedale for darker rooms.
Supplied as a single speaker. Backed by Wharfedale's 3-year warranty.
