The Wharfedale Aura C is the dedicated centre channel speaker in the AURA series, engineered to anchor dialogue and vocals in a home cinema system with the same level of refinement found across the range. Taking technical inspiration from Wharfedale's flagship ELYSIAN series, the Aura C brings high-end driver and cabinet technologies to a more accessible price point.
AMT high-frequency driver
At the heart of the Aura C is a 27 x 90mm Air Motion Transformer tweeter, a design that moves air through a folded diaphragm rather than a conventional dome. This approach produces lower levels of compression and distortion across the treble range, resulting in cleaner high-frequency reproduction that is particularly beneficial for resolving the detail in vocals and dialogue.
Woven glass fibre midrange and bass drivers
Two midrange and bass drive units use Wharfedale's proprietary woven glass fibre matrix diaphragm, terminated with high-flexibility rubber surrounds. The voice coils operate in high-flux magnetic fields, with eddy currents managed by copper-clad pole pieces to reduce distortion. Each driver is mounted on a die-cast aluminium chassis fixed to the cabinet by six high-tensile bolts, maintaining structural rigidity and accurate transient response.
SLPP bass reflex design
The Aura C uses Wharfedale's Slot Loaded Profiled Port system, developed from the original Gilbert Briggs concept. A downward-facing port channels airflow through a series of slots in the plinth, distributing it more evenly into the listening room to reduce port noise at higher volume levels.
Hi-gloss walnut cabinet
Cabinets are finished with a natural wood walnut veneer, lacquered and polished to a hi-gloss surface. The smooth curves of the cabinet serve both an aesthetic and acoustic purpose, helping to disperse diffraction effects from the cabinet edges. Black and white hi-gloss finishes are also available.
