The Wharfedale Aura 2 sits above the Aura 1 in the Aura range, adding a dedicated midrange driver to create a true three-way loudspeaker housed in a compact bookshelf cabinet. Inspired throughout by the flagship Elysian series through fit, finish and technological derivatives, the Aura 2 brings a level of sonic sophistication and engineering refinement that sets a new standard at its price point.
Three-Way Architecture with AMT Tweeter
The Aura 2 uses a three-driver, three-way configuration that assigns each frequency band to a dedicated transducer optimised for that role. A 27mm by 90mm Air Motion Transformer (AMT) handles the treble, delivering the speed, resolution and openness that made the AMT tweeter the choice of Wharfedale's Elysian designers. Crossover frequencies of 520Hz and 4.5kHz ensure each driver operates well within its optimum range, eliminating the colouration that results when a single driver is asked to cover too wide a bandwidth.
Glass Fibre Matrix Cone Drivers
Both the 150mm (6.5-inch) bass driver and the 100mm (4-inch) midrange driver use Black Glass Fibre Matrix cones. This material combines high stiffness with effective self-damping, controlling resonances throughout the audio band for a presentation that is neutral, detailed and dynamically assured. The bass reflex enclosure is tuned to reach 42Hz, giving the Aura 2 exceptional low-frequency extension for a standmount design.
Design and Finish
The Hi-Gloss Black cabinet uses radiused corners and a sculpted plinth to lend visual distinction to a compact enclosure. A bi-wire capable terminal plate sits on the rear panel, accepting standard 4mm banana plugs or bare wire. The Aura 2 is supplied as a stereo pair without stands; dedicated matching Wharfedale Aura stands are available separately or as part of a complete package.
