The Wharfedale Aston is a limited edition standmount loudspeaker, conceived and manufactured entirely in the UK. Designed by Peter Comeau at Wharfedale's headquarters in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, the Aston celebrates the heritage of British speaker engineering while incorporating thoroughly modern transducer technology. With just 500 pairs ever produced, the Aston is a collector's piece for the passionate audiophile.
At its core is a brand-new 6" Carbon Fibre bass/midrange cone, a first in the Wharfedale Heritage series. Mounted in a rigid cast chassis with a high-performance motor system, it is paired with a new 1" soft dome tweeter designed in synergy to deliver a seamless, holographic soundstage. The crossover employs air-core inductors and precision capacitors, refined through exhaustive listening sessions across a wide variety of music.
The cabinet is constructed from multiple layers of differing woods, chosen through a series of complex resonance tests and computer modelling. The result is a furniture-grade enclosure finished in hand-matched real-wood walnut veneer, with gold accents and a Wharfedale Heritage trim strip, presenting a distinctly contemporary take on a classic British aesthetic.
This package includes the matching Aston stands, engineered specifically for the Aston loudspeaker and also made in England from hardened high-carbon British steel. The stands present the Aston at the optimum listening height and are finished to match the furniture-grade cabinets.
