The Van Damme Blue Series Studio Grade is the company’s workhorse speaker cable range, designed for recording studios, rehearsal spaces, live sound, and presentation environments. Within the Blue Series, the 2 × 2.50 mm² sits in the middle of the five-size lineup—above the 0.75 mm² and 1.50 mm² options intended for 100V line and shorter runs, and below the 4.00 mm² and 6.00 mm² variants designed for long, low-impedance speaker runs. Sold unterminated by the metre, it is ready for custom termination to suit any installation.
Construction
The cable uses a twin-axial geometry with bare ultra-pure oxygen-free copper conductors. Van Damme specify fine stranding at 147 × 0.15 mm for the 2.50 mm² variant, which provides flexibility during installation and routing. PVC insulation is colour-coded red and blue for easy polarity identification. The outer jacket is a flexible PVC composite finished in Van Damme’s signature Sapphire Blue (RAL 5003).
Performance & Applications
With a resistance of 7.65 Ohm/km, the 2.50 mm² conductor size suits moderate cable runs in critical studio monitoring setups and guitar amplifier-to-speaker connections. Van Damme note that the reduced outer diameter of the 2 × 2.50 mm² cable will fit XLR connectors and mono jacks, making it versatile for custom-terminated applications beyond standard banana plug or spade termination.
The cable is rated for a working voltage of 300/500 V and an operating temperature range of −20 to +70 °C, suitable for both indoor installations and outdoor festival rigs.
