Released in October 1994 on Epic Records, The Best of Sade is the definitive greatest hits compilation from one of British music’s most distinctive acts. Spanning Sade’s first four studio albums — Diamond Life (1984), Promise (1985), Stronger Than Pride (1988) and Love Deluxe (1992) — the sixteen-track collection charts the band’s evolution from the cool sophistication of Your Love Is King and Smooth Operator through to the darker, more textured production of No Ordinary Love and Cherish the Day.

The Collection

Side one opens with the debut single Your Love Is King and moves through the early Epic Records catalogue: the Latin-tinged Smooth Operator, the brooding Jezebel, and The Sweetest Taboo from Promise. Side two draws from Stronger Than Pride and Love Deluxe, closing with No Ordinary Love and the stripped-back Pearls. The running order balances uptempo and slow-burn material across all four sides, making it well suited to continuous vinyl playback.

This Pressing

This reissue is pressed on 180-gram vinyl across two 12-inch LPs, housed in a gatefold sleeve. The heavier pressing weight reduces resonance during playback and improves groove stability compared to standard-weight vinyl. Catalogue number 88875180591 on Epic/Sony Music.
