True 3-Way Crossover Design

At the heart of the Ultra Evolution Center is a true 3-way crossover with premium-grade capacitors, inductors, resistors, and a heavy-trace printed circuit board. The tweeter-to-midrange crossover is set at 2.2 kHz, and the midrange-to-woofer crossover at 450 Hz. This arrangement allows each driver to operate within its optimal bandwidth, with precise crossover frequencies and slopes engineered for truthful phase coherency and a robust, accurate soundstage. The vertically aligned tweeter-midrange array ensures on- and off-axis frequency response remains consistent across the listening area, maximising the sweet spot for every seat in the room.

Diamond-Coated Aluminium Dome Tweeter

The 1-inch tweeter uses a process called vapour deposition, in which a layer of diamond-like carbon is applied to an aircraft-grade aluminium dome. SVS states that this hyper-rigid coating raises the frequency response well beyond the limits of human hearing, resulting in effortless, airy highs with no measurable distortion. The diamond coating also extends the tweeter's low-frequency capability deeper, enabling more seamless blending with the midrange. An FEA-optimised organic cell lattice diffuser — its semi-random pattern derived from organic cell structures — protects the dome and improves off-axis response. Silver tinsel leads are used for signal transfer and power handling.

Glass Fibre Composite Midrange and Woofers

The 4.5-inch midrange driver uses a composite glass-fibre cone, selected for its stiffness-to-mass ratio. It is housed in a dedicated acoustic-suspension sub-enclosure within the cabinet, acoustically isolated from the woofer section to eliminate cavity resonances and preserve midrange clarity. The dual 6.5-inch woofers share the same glass-fibre composite construction, with long-stroke motor and suspension geometry for high output, vented aluminium voice coil formers for thermal control, and precision-cast aluminium-alloy baskets for accurate component alignment. Together, the woofer pair handles bass reproduction from 40 Hz with the authority that centre-channel film content demands.

Time-Aligned Cabinet Geometry

The cabinet introduces microsecond-level time delays between drivers so that the effective acoustic centre of each is equidistant from the listener. SVS states this improves linearity and directionality through the crossover frequencies and produces a more accurate soundstage. The curved front baffle aligns the sonic emanation point of the tweeter and midrange on a vertical plane, ensuring sound from both drivers reaches the listener at the same instant. A chamfered front baffle and flush-mounted drivers reduce edge diffraction and improve high-frequency response both on and off axis. The driver baffle itself is an extra-thick 25mm (1") construction to provide a rigid, resonance-free mounting surface for all three driver types.

Construction and Finish

The cabinet is built using FEA-optimised 18mm panels with extensive bracing and acoustic insulation. Dual 1.6-inch wide-flared rear-firing ports handle bass extension, and dual gold-plated 5-way binding posts accept bare wire, banana plugs, or spade terminals. The magnetic cloth grille uses a neodymium retention system for clean attachment without visible fittings. The Piano Gloss Black finish uses a high-gloss lacquered cabinet; alternative finishes — Black Oak Veneer and Piano Gloss White — are also available.
