The SVS SoundPath Ultra Bi-Wire Speaker Cable sits at the top of the SVS cable range, designed for loudspeakers equipped with dual sets of binding posts. By dedicating separate conductor runs to the high-frequency and low-frequency terminals of a bi-wirable speaker, the cable reduces inter-modulation between frequency bands and lowers effective impedance, allowing each drive unit to receive a cleaner signal.
Construction
Each cable is built around dual balanced 14 AWG conductors using 99.99% pure oxygen-free copper, with 164 strands per cable. The conductors are wrapped in a 3-layer shielding system comprising separate 3.2mm and 7.6mm PVC dielectric cores, reducing capacitance and preserving signal integrity across the audio bandwidth. The outer sleeve is a premium braided cotton jacket that provides robust mechanical protection while giving the cable a distinctive appearance.
Connectors
At the amplifier end, the cable terminates in two banana plugs per channel. At the speaker end, four spade connectors connect individually to the upper and lower pairs of binding posts on a bi-wirable loudspeaker. All connectors are hand-soldered and fitted with aircraft-grade anodised aluminium bodies. Gold plating, 24-karat, is applied across all contact surfaces to maximise conductivity and resist oxidation over time.
Electrical Performance
The SoundPath Ultra Bi-Wire is rated from DC to 5.0 MHz, with a conductor DC resistance of 8 mĪ©/metre, nominal capacitance of 68 pF/metre at 1 kHz, and a nominal impedance of 90 Ī©. Return loss is specified at ā„26 dB with a VSWR of ā¤1.1, reflecting the precision of the cable's design across the full audio and beyond-audio frequency range.
