The SVS SoundPath Speaker Level Subwoofer Adaptor is a precision signal conversion accessory designed for integration between any amplifier or receiver that lacks a dedicated line-level subwoofer output and any powered subwoofer with line-level RCA inputs. Part of SVS's SoundPath accessories range — which encompasses speaker cables, RCA interconnects, and XLR cables — the Speaker Level Adaptor addresses a genuine compatibility gap: many stereo integrated amplifiers and legacy receivers offer only speaker-level binding posts, with no provision for a subwoofer pre-out. This adaptor steps the speaker-level signal down to RCA line-level voltage using a –30 dBV attenuation circuit, enabling a clean, full-bandwidth connection to any powered subwoofer without drawing power from the amplifier.
Signal Path and Construction
The internal circuit uses premium narrow-tolerance resistors and wide-trace PCBs engineered for high-current and extreme power handling — capable of accepting up to 500W RMS or 1,000W peak input, covering the output of virtually any domestic amplifier. The –30 dBV attenuation is purely passive; no active components sit in the signal path, and no power supply is required. The result is a frequency response of 10 Hz to 80 kHz measured at ±0.01 dB, with total harmonic distortion plus noise below 0.03% at 10V. Speaker-level input impedance is 4.85 kΩ; line-level output impedance is 150 Ω.
The chassis uses 99.99% oxygen-free copper throughout the signal path, with a 3-layer RF shielding system to reject interference from mains wiring and nearby electronics. A protective braided sleeve covers the output cabling, and the chassis is fully insulated.
Connections
The input side carries gold-plated 5-way binding posts accepting bare wire, spade lugs, or banana plugs — the same connector types used on SVS's own subwoofers — with left and right channels clearly labelled. The output side provides two gold-plated RCA line-level jacks, one for each channel, connecting directly to the RCA line-level input on any powered subwoofer.
