The SVS Prime Wireless Pro Powered Speaker Pair represents SVS’s most ambitious push into the wireless audio market, a system that combines a full 2-channel amplifier, high-resolution DAC, and comprehensive streaming platform into a speaker enclosure pair, eliminating the need for a separate integrated amplifier or streaming device. The active speaker houses all the electronics; the passive speaker connects via the included speaker cable. The result is a high-fidelity stereo system that requires only a power connection and network access to operate.
Drivers and Amplifier
Each cabinet uses a 1-inch aluminium dome tweeter with an FEA-optimised diffuser and a 5.25-inch polypropylene cone mid-bass driver with an aluminium shorting ring and vented voice coil former. The active speaker contains twin Class-D power amplifiers in a bi-amplified configuration, delivering 200 watts total, 50 watts to each driver per speaker. A digitally controlled crossover at 2 kHz with 12 dB/octave slopes governs the handover between tweeter and mid-bass driver. The cabinet is rear-ported through a 2.36-inch port, and the baffle edges are tapered to reduce edge diffraction.
Streaming and Wireless Connectivity
The system supports DTS Play-Fi in Critical Listening Mode, which streams lossless audio at up to 192 kHz/24-bit over a home Wi-Fi network. Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast are also supported for iOS and Android users respectively, both delivering CD-quality audio. Spotify Connect allows direct streaming from the Spotify app without routing audio through a phone. Bluetooth 5.0 with AAC and aptX codecs is available for mobile devices. The internal DAC processes audio at up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
Wired Inputs and Outputs
The rear panel of the active speaker carries an HDMI ARC/eARC input, a notable feature for a speaker system of this type, enabling direct connection to a television with lip-sync correction. Additional wired inputs include RCA stereo line-level, 3.5mm auxiliary, and Toslink optical (supporting up to 96 kHz). Ethernet ports allow wired network connection. A dedicated subwoofer output with 2V maximum level auto-engages an 80Hz high-pass filter when in use, allowing a powered subwoofer to be added to the system.
Controls and Display
A 3.15-inch OLED front panel display shows the current source, volume level, and playback information. Two rotary controls manage source selection and volume. Six programmable preset buttons on the front panel and the included IR remote allow instant recall of saved playlist configurations. Voice command integration supports Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and Google Assistant via the host device.
