The SVS PC-2000 Pro occupies an intriguing position in the 2000 Pro Series lineup, sitting alongside the SB-2000 Pro sealed box and PB-2000 Pro ported box as the cylindrical cabinet option. For rooms where floor space is limited, the upright cylinder format reduces the unit’s footprint to just 422mm in diameter while standing 872mm tall, allowing it to occupy a corner or a narrow space between furniture with minimal visual intrusion. SVS pairs that practical cabinet geometry with the same Sledge STA-550D amplification and driver technology used throughout the 2000 Pro range, so the compromise is in footprint rather than output capability.
Driver Design
The 12-inch driver is mounted in a down-firing configuration at the base of the cylinder. The cone is formed from 1050 aluminium, a material SVS selects for its combination of stiffness and low mass, and is paired with a dual ferrite magnet assembly weighing over 15 lbs total. A dual-layer copper voice coil wound on a 2-inch polyimide former and an injection-moulded extreme-excursion surround work together to allow the driver to move the large volumes of air necessary for deep low-frequency output from the cylindrical enclosure. High-excursion operation is supported by a vented voice coil former that minimises air compression during large cone displacements.
Amplifier and DSP
The Sledge STA-550D amplifier delivers 550 watts RMS continuously, with a peak dynamic capability above 1,500 watts. The output stage uses discrete 25-amp, 600V MOSFET devices in a Class-D switching topology for thermal efficiency. Signal processing is handled by a 50 MHz Analog Devices DSP running 56-bit filtering, which governs the 3-band parametric EQ with adjustable Q factors, low-pass filter frequency, phase and polarity, and the variable port tuning that switches the cylinder between standard ported and sealed operating modes. A foam port plug is supplied for the rear-firing 4-inch port, engaging sealed mode sacrifices two or three hertz of extension at the bottom but increases transient precision and reduces overhang, an option some users prefer with music.
App Control and Connectivity
The SVS smartphone app (iOS, Android, and Amazon) connects via Bluetooth and provides full control of every DSP parameter from the listening position, removing the need to reach around or behind the unit for adjustments. Three custom preset slots allow different EQ configurations to be stored and recalled instantly. The rear panel carries RCA stereo input and output jacks, a 3–12V trigger for automation integration, a USB service port, and the ICI (Intelligent Control Interface) connector with LED status feedback. Physical controls on the rear panel allow adjustment without the app when required.
Cabinet and Accessories
The cylindrical cabinet is constructed from extra-thick MDF with extensive internal bracing. The outer surface is covered with a premium black-knit cloth wrapping, and the removable top cap is finished in Piano Gloss Black lacquer. The SVS SoundPath Subwoofer Isolation System, four elastomer feet that decouple the cabinet from the floor, is included in the box, as is a 6-foot heavy-duty power lead and a foam port tuning plug.
