The SVS PB-3000 R|Evolution sits at the heart of SVS’s redesigned 3000 R|Evolution Series, occupying a position above the sealed SB-3000 R|Evolution and below the 5000 R|Evolution flagships. It represents a comprehensive rearchitecting of the PB-3000 platform, combining an all-new driver, amplifier, and DSP in a dual-ported cabinet engineered to reproduce bass down to a usable 14Hz with room-pressurising output.
Driver Architecture
At the centre of the PB-3000 R|Evolution is a new 13-inch high-excursion driver developed by SVS. Its Flat-Edge Split-Wind Voice Coil maximises magnetic force at high excursion while keeping moving mass low, preserving speed and accuracy even at extreme levels. A Two-Piece Toroidal Ferrite Magnet Overhung Motor maintains linearity throughout the driver’s full travel, and a rigid 1100 Pure Aluminium cone is designed to remain pistonic across the full frequency range. A Long-Throw SBR surround supports massive driver movement without compromising control.
Amplification
The STA-1200D2 amplifier is conservatively rated at 1,200 watts continuous with 4,000+ watts peak power. It employs a Class-D topology with fully discrete MOSFET output, combining the efficiency of Class D with the current delivery that characterises discrete MOSFET designs. A Performance-Enhancing Switch Mode Power Supply monitors AC voltage, current, and temperature at multiple points to maintain consistent peak output under all operating conditions.
DSP and Control
A 295 MHz Analog Devices DSP processor orchestrates the amplifier, power supply, and driver. It provides more than 120 dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio via premium DACs, and shapes in-room frequency response with precision while monitoring the amplifier and power supply for stability. The rear OLED display provides direct access to volume and key settings, with a Display Flip function for different installation orientations.
The SVS Subwoofer Control smartphone app connects via Bluetooth and is compatible with Apple iOS, Google Android, and Amazon Fire. It provides access to volume, low-pass filter, phase, polarity, six parametric equalisers, room gain compensation, tuning modes, and three memory presets. Variable Port Tuning modes with the included port plugs allow switching between standard ported mode (16-235Hz) and sealed mode (17-270Hz) to tune for maximum output or tighter transient performance.
Cabinet Design
The dual-ported cabinet features a rigid MDF front baffle with extensive internal bracing and acoustic insulation to eliminate resonance from the enclosure even at reference listening levels. Two high-flow 3.5-inch rounded ports enable high dynamic headroom without port noise. Custom elastomer feet reduce floor-borne noise artefacts. The ABS grille frame with fabric mesh is described as non-resonant and extra-thick. Available in a Premium Black Ash finish.
Connectivity
The rear panel provides LFE and L/R Line Level RCA inputs, L/R Balanced XLR inputs with an 18 kilohm input impedance, an RCA line-level output, IR input, 12V trigger input (3-12V AC/DC), and a USB port for the optional SVS SoundPath Wireless Audio Adapter.
