The SVS PB-2000 Pro sits at the heart of the SVS 2000 Pro Series, delivering reference-grade ported subwoofer performance that outperforms its modest cabinet dimensions. Positioned between the entry-level 1000 Pro Series and the flagship 3000 and 4000 Series, the PB-2000 Pro inherits key technologies from SVS’s higher-end models — including dual port tuning borrowed from the PB-3000 — while maintaining an accessible price point. It replaces the original PB-2000, retaining the same cabinet footprint but featuring an entirely redesigned driver and amplifier platform.
Driver Design
At the core of the PB-2000 Pro is a completely redesigned 12-inch high-excursion driver. The cone is formed from 1050 aluminium in a vented configuration, providing an exceptional stiffness-to-mass ratio that maintains pistonic motion across the full operating range. Two dedicated toroidal ferrite magnets generate the magnetic flux required for extreme excursion without sacrificing control, and the dual-layer high-purity copper voice coil — wound on a 2-inch polyimide fibreglass former — maximises linearity at full excursion while minimising distortion and power compression. A proprietary injection-moulded extreme-excursion surround preserves drive unit longevity under sustained high-output conditions.
Amplifier & DSP
The Sledge STA-550D amplifier delivers 550 watts RMS and over 1,500 watts of peak dynamic power through a fully discrete MOSFET output stage combined with the efficiency of Class D topology. A high-resolution 50MHz Analog Devices audio DSP continuously monitors and shapes the output, with frequency response curves optimised specifically for the PB-2000 Pro’s ported cabinet geometry. The result is deep, controlled bass extension to 16 Hz without audible distortion, even at reference playback levels.
Cabinet & Port Design
The cabinet is constructed from robust MDF and features dual 3-inch bass reflex ports positioned beneath the forward-firing driver — a configuration previously reserved for SVS’s larger PB-3000. In standard dual-port mode, the PB-2000 Pro reaches down to 16 Hz (±3 dB). One port can be sealed for a tighter, more controlled response profile at 17 Hz (±3 dB), giving users flexibility to tailor the subwoofer’s behaviour to their room and listening preferences. Iso-elastomer isolation feet decouple the cabinet from the floor surface.
App Control & DSP Features
The SVS subwoofer DSP smartphone app, available for iOS, Android, and Amazon devices, provides wireless Bluetooth control over the full range of DSP parameters. Users can adjust volume, crossover frequency, three-band parametric EQ (with centre frequency adjustable from 20–200 Hz, gain from −12 to +6 dB, and bandwidth from 0.2–10.0), polarity, phase alignment, and room gain compensation. Three custom presets can be saved and recalled for music, film, and gaming use, and a 3–12V AC/DC trigger input supports integration into automated home cinema installations.
Connectivity
Rear-panel connections include stereo RCA line-level input and output, enabling daisy-chaining of multiple subwoofers or connection to a wide range of amplifiers and AV receivers. A USB service port is provided for firmware updates and accessories.
