The Sonos Era 300 sits at the top of the Era range, positioned above the Era 100 as the dedicated spatial audio speaker for listeners who want Dolby Atmos Music alongside the broader Sonos multiroom ecosystem. Where the Era 100 is optimised for compact stereo listening, the Era 300 is built around a more complex six-driver architecture designed to project sound in multiple directions simultaneously, creating a three-dimensional soundstage from a single enclosure. This is the Matte Black finish.
Six-Driver Spatial Audio Architecture
The Era 300 houses four tweeters and two woofers, each assigned a distinct role in building the spatial image. A forward-firing centre tweeter anchors the front image; two side-firing mid tweeters extend the stereo field left and right; and a fourth tweeter mounted in a directional horn fires upward, providing the height channel required for Dolby Atmos Music playback. The two woofers are angled left and right rather than mounted symmetrically, reinforcing stereo separation in the low end. Each of the six drivers is powered by its own dedicated Class-D digital amplifier, precision-tuned to the acoustic characteristics of the cabinet. Sonos describes the waveguides as accurately dispersing sound right, left, forward, and above.
Connectivity & Streaming
The Era 300 supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, and Bluetooth 5.3 for direct streaming from mobile devices. Apple AirPlay 2 is built in, enabling streaming from Apple devices. For analogue sources, a USB-C port on the rear accepts wired line-in via the optional Sonos Line-In Adapter (sold separately), which provides a 3.5mm aux input. The Era 300 is controlled through the Sonos app on iOS or Android, or directly via touch controls on the top surface of the speaker.
Room Tuning & Voice Control
Trueplay tuning is available through the Sonos app. When activated, Trueplay uses the microphone array on the speaker to measure the room's acoustic response and adjusts the equalisation to compensate for the effects of the listening environment. Voice control is supported via Amazon Alexa and Sonos Voice Control, both built in to the speaker.
Sonos Ecosystem
The Era 300 integrates fully with the Sonos multiroom platform, allowing synchronised playback across multiple Sonos speakers throughout the home. Two Era 300 units can be paired as a stereo pair, or a single unit can be added as a surround speaker in a Sonos Arc or Beam (Gen 2) home cinema setup. Sonos Radio is included at no additional cost, providing curated stations accessible directly through the Sonos app. The Era 300 is available in Matte Black and Matte White finishes.
