Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits was the duo's first compilation, released on 14 June 1972, two years after Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel had disbanded. It gathers ten studio recordings alongside four live performances that had not been issued before, and it remains the best selling album of their career in the United States.
The record reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and number 5 on the US Billboard 200, and it has since been certified for 14 million units in the United States, the highest total for any album by a duo. In 2003 Rolling Stone placed it at number 293 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
The Live Recordings
Four of the fourteen tracks are concert performances that appeared here for the first time. "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her" and "Kathy's Song" were taken from a November 1969 concert in St. Louis, Missouri. "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)" and "Homeward Bound" came from the duo's July 1970 Carnegie Hall performance, and each cross-fades on applause into the studio recording that follows it. The album was produced by Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel and Roy Halee.

This is the Legacy and Columbia reissue under catalogue number 19075817661, a single 12 inch LP cut at 33 1/3 RPM in stereo. It is pressed on black vinyl with the red Columbia labels, housed in a single sleeve with a paper inner and manufactured in the EU. The sleeve reproduces the original 1972 Columbia artwork, including the track listing printed down the front cover.
