Talisman-R is the reference floorstanding speaker in Ruark's 100 Series, joining the Sabre-R bookshelf speakers at the top of the range and designed as a natural partner for the R610 Music Console and R710 Hi-Fi Console. It revives the original Talisman of 1990, a speaker admired as much for the way it looked in a room as for the way it played.
A Legacy Reimagined
The original Talisman won people over with its slim silhouette and sloped baffle, a design that felt at home in the living room rather than the listening lab. Talisman-R keeps that connection clear while folding in years of accumulated engineering knowledge, bringing a new level of performance along with styling that marries perfectly with the rest of the 100 Series.
Acoustic Design
At its heart is a new decoupled baffle system, isolating the drive units from the main cabinet to reduce unwanted resonance. The tuned bass reflex enclosure uses a dual flared port, with a 14.5 litre internal volume tuned to 42Hz for deep, controlled low frequencies from a slender cabinet.
High frequencies are handled by Ruark's 27mm silk dome tweeter with a neodymium motor, while the 17cm NS+ long-throw woofer combines a treated fibre cone with a 35mm two-layer copper voice coil and a strontium ferrite motor. The two are joined by an optimised second order crossover at 2.2kHz, built with premium audio film capacitors and low-loss inductors.
Cabinet and Finish
This version pairs a Fused Walnut veneer baffle with a Charcoal cabinet, Walnut slat trim and a removable mottled fabric grille on a magnetic frame. Each speaker stands 850mm tall and weighs 17.6kg, and is supplied with adjustable rubber coned feet and carpet spikes for stable placement on any floor.
Amplifier Matching
With 87dB sensitivity and a 6 ohm nominal impedance, Talisman-R is an easy partner for amplifiers from 50W to 250W. Dual gold-plated 4mm multi-way binding posts accept banana plugs, spade terminals or bare wire, and support single-wire or bi-wire connection.
