The R710 CD Hi-Fi Console is part of Ruark Audio's 100 Series and pairs a high-resolution streaming system with an integrated slot-loading CD player and 200 watts per channel of Class-D amplification. Designed to partner loudspeakers such as Ruark's Talisman-R floorstanders or Sabre-R bookshelf models (sold separately), it brings CD, vinyl, TV and streaming sources together in a single elegant console.
Design and Construction
This version is finished in Fused Walnut veneer with a Walnut slat trim across the front, behind which the CD player is subtly concealed. Ruark's RotoDial controller, a hallmark of the brand since 2006, has been redeveloped for the 100 Series and sits on the top panel, while a matching rechargeable wireless remote is included in the box. A large 6.8 inch colour TFT display with automatic dimming presents album artwork, station artwork and system menus with crystal clarity.
Amplification and Performance
Beneath the exterior is a modern switch-mode power supply providing optimised feeds to the system's electronics and custom amplifiers. Circuit board layout keeps signal paths short with optimal grounding for low noise, and audio-grade components are used throughout. The Class-D amplifier delivers 2 x 200 watts into 4 ohms at 0.01% THD, with Burr-Brown 32-bit 192kHz conversion on both the DAC and ADC stages. Adjustable bass and treble, switchable Loudness EQ and a switchable Stereo+ mode allow the sound to be tailored to the room, and a mono RCA subwoofer output is provided for system expansion.
Streaming and Sources
A quad-core processor handles high-resolution streaming with ease. Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Internet radio and HD Bluetooth with aptX HD are all built in, alongside playback from networked media servers and USB storage. The integrated CD player supports Red Book CD-DA and CD-R discs, and a built-in moving magnet phono stage allows easy connection of a turntable. HDMI ARC/eARC brings TV sound into the system with volume control from the TV remote, and a switchable optical input caters for sources without HDMI.
