The Ruark R3S is a compact all-in-one music system sitting within Ruark's R Series. It combines a slot-loading CD player, DAB/DAB+ and FM radio, Wi-Fi streaming, and Bluetooth in a single cabinet with twin full-range drivers and Class A/B amplification. The R3S is controlled via an IR remote or the Oktiv app for iOS and Android.
Drivers and Amplification
Two 75mm Ruark NS+ full-range drivers operate in a twin bass reflex cabinet, delivering a typical in-room frequency response of 50Hz to 20kHz. Amplification is 30W nominal from a Class A/B output stage. Adjustable bass and treble control is provided with a range of -6dB to +6dB, along with a switchable loudness EQ and switchable 3D Audio enhancement.
CD, Streaming, and Radio
The built-in slot-loading CD player handles CD-DA and CD-R discs, with support for WAV (16-bit/44.1kHz), MP3, WMA, and AAC media files at up to 320kbps. Spotify Connect, Deezer, and Amazon Music are built in as native streaming services. Internet Radio, DAB/DAB+, and FM with RDS (87.5-108MHz) provide broadcast reception. A dedicated podcast source is also available. Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) connects the R3S to the home network for streaming.
Connectivity
Bluetooth V5.2 with SBC provides wireless audio from source devices. Analogue input is via stereo RCA (up to 2.3Vrms), and a TOSLINK optical input accepts digital PCM up to 24-bit/96kHz. Both line in and optical inputs offer adjustable input levels. Outputs include stereo RCA line out and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A USB-C port provides 5V/1A (5W) device charging and MP3 playback from FAT32-formatted drives. A 75Ω F-type aerial connector is fitted for improved FM reception.
Display and Controls
An OLED display with auto-dimming shows source, programme, and alarm information. The R3S supports two daily alarms with weekday, weekend, and custom scheduling patterns, plus sleep and snooze functions. Eight presets per mode allow quick access to favourite stations and sources. Software updates are delivered over the air, via LAN, or USB.
